M-CARE Ghana Team Begins Stakeholder Consultations Following WP2 Training
The M-CARE Ghana team has officially commenced stakeholder consultations as part of the WP2 activities, marking an important step in the implementation of the project in Ghana.
Ahead of the field activities, the Ghana team participated in a full-day training led by Prof. Ama de-Graft Aikins. The training was designed to prepare the research team to conduct stakeholder consultations using Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
During the training, Prof. de-Graft Aikins took the team through the purpose of the stakeholder consultations, the interview and discussion guides, appropriate interviewing techniques, and key considerations for engaging with different stakeholder groups.
A major highlight of the training was the use of role-play exercises. Team members had the opportunity to practise conducting both KIIs and FGDs, taking turns in the roles of interviewers, facilitators, note-takers, and participants. These practical sessions allowed the team to become more familiar with the tools, receive feedback, clarify areas of uncertainty, and strengthen their confidence ahead of the fieldwork.
Following the successful training, the Ghana team has now officially hit the ground running, with stakeholder consultation interviews underway.
The consultations will provide important insights from key stakeholders and contribute to a better understanding of the local context, stakeholder perspectives, and factors that should be considered as M-CARE activities are further developed and implemented in Ghana.
The start of the stakeholder consultations represents another important milestone for the M-CARE project in Ghana and reflects the team’s continued progress towards generating context-specific evidence to support the project’s implementation.
