The M-CARE project addresses the growing burden of multiple long-term non-communicable diseases (MLTC-NCDs), particularly cardiometabolic and common mental health conditions, in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where overburdened health systems face rapid urbanization and epidemiological transitions.
The project aims to adapt and implement an integrated, evidence-based primary healthcare model aligned with WHO’s PEN and mhGAP-IG frameworks in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda. Specific objectives include co-creating culturally relevant implementation strategies, enhancing early detection and comprehensive care, evaluating impact on implementation and health outcomes, assessing cost-effectiveness, and supporting sustainable policy integration.
Through stakeholder collaboration and context-sensitive approaches, M-CARE seeks to build scalable and equitable health solutions for MLTC-NCDs in SSA.
